Your launch pad to an epic Italian tour begins in the Eternal City of Rome. On arrival, you have one group transfer to your hotel. Tread in the footsteps of gods and goddesses, emperors and gladiators as you explore its ancient streets before joining your Travel Director for a Welcome Dinner and orientation past some of the city's most iconic sights.

Day 2

Explore the Ruins of Pompeii and on to Sorrento (2 nights)

Sorrento - Italy

We journey south to the well-preserved ruins of Pompeii. Here we join a Local Specialist who will share details of the devastation caused by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius as we wander through the ancient paved roads of a city that was frozen in time. Later, we arrive at our hotel in the clifftop town of Sorrento where we’ll dine tonight.

Day 3

Cruise to the Isle of Capri

Sorrento - Italy

We cross the Bay of Naples today by ferry to the glamorous Isle of Capri to visit some of its landmark sights. Wander past the chic boutiques and pavement cafés in Capri town in the company of a Local Specialist before taking your time to soak up the sophistication of this lovely island. Later, we return to the mainland for an afternoon at leisure.

Through Tuscany to Florence (2 nights)

Florence - Italy

Marvel at the beauty of the Bay of Naples and mighty Vesuvius as you leave the Sorrento coastline. Glimpse the Benedictine Abbey of Cassino perched high on the mountain peak and featured as the site of the Battle of Monte Cassino in 1944 before heading north to the slopes of Mount Subasio. Continue north into the vineyard-clad hills of Tuscany before arriving in Florence, the 'Cradle of the Renaissance'.

Uncover the Treasures of Florence

Florence - Italy

Discover Renaissance treasures, extraordinary art and exquisite architecture in one of the cultural capitals of the world. We join a Local Specialist who will bring the legacy of the influential Medici family to life. Walk along narrow lanes into expansive piazzas, viewing the magnificent marble Duomo and a replica of the David statue in Piazza della Signoria. 

View the Ponte Vecchio, almost 700 years old, and admire the spectacular panorama from Piazzale Michelangelo. You’ll also learn about the quality and workmanship of two of this city's historic industries at demonstrations of Florentine leathercraft and 18-carat gold. 

The rest of the day is yours to explore Florence at your own pace. Visit the masterpieces of Michelangelo, wander through the architectural wonder of Palazzo Pitti or shop for high-quality leather and gold.

Onwards to Pisa and Venice (2 nights)

Venice - Italy

We travel to Pisa today and to the Square of Miracles to view the famous Leaning Tower and Italy's largest Baptistery. Cross the Apennine hills and flat Veneto plains to the island city of Venice. The rest of the day is yours to relax and soak up the sights and sounds of the 'Queen of the Adriatic'. Consider joining an Optional Experience and explore the labyrinthine canals of Venice by gondola before dinner.

Discover the Floating City

On this morning’s MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience, we’ll witness the centuries-old tradition of Venetian glassblowing that has been passed down from generation to generation. You may wish to buy a souvenir to remind you of the talent and skill of the master craftsmen who delight in sharing with visitors how they’re preserving this local craft. You’ll see St. Mark's Basilica, the ornate Doge's Palace and the Bridge of Sighs next, imagining how prisoners felt when they gazed over Venice for the very last time before being imprisoned. 

Cruise by private launch to see the city's most iconic attractions before enjoying free time to explore the city on your terms. Wander through alleys, over ornate bridges and into quiet campi as you indulge your inner explorer and get lost in this enchanting city on water.

Journey By High-Speed Train to Rome and Free Time (2 nights)

Sit back on the high-speed train, bound for Rome, passing through many picturesque towns, including Padua, Bologna, Florence and Orvieto (station porterage not available; guests will be responsible for their luggage at the Venice and Rome stations).

Rome Sightseeing and Free Time

Rome - Italy

Unlock local secrets on a tour of the Vatican Museums with a Local Specialist. Admire Michelangelo's frescoed ceiling in the Sistine Chapel before visiting St. Peter's Basilica to see his sorrowful Pietà (tickets to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel are subject to availability). 

Later, cross the Tiber into Ancient Rome and enjoy a guided in-depth walking experience around the walls of the Colosseum, before seeing Circus Maximus; once the site of celebrated chariot races. This afternoon, enjoy free time to explore Rome on your own or relax in one of the city's piazzas watching the world go by.

Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner in the company of fellow travelers and our Travel Director.
